Howse Joins Coaching Staff

Vernal, Utah - The Vernal Oilers of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) are proud to announce the addition of Ryan Howse as their new Associate Coach/Assistant General Manager.

A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Howse brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience to the Vernal Oilers organization.

As a junior player, Ryan was a decorated member of the Chilliwack Bruins, recording 217 points over five seasons after being selected 3rd overall in the 2006 WHL bantam draft. Howse's impressive performance in the WHL earned him a spot in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, where he was selected in the third round, 74th overall by the Calgary Flames. He signed an entry-level contract with the Flames in 2011 and played for their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, and their ECHL affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies for the next two seasons.

Upon retirement, Howse returned home to Prince George and began a coaching career with both the AAA Cariboo Cougars, and the BCHL's Prince George Spruce Kings. Most recently, Howse has spent the past two seasons as Head Coach/GM of the CAJHL's Hinton Timberwolves, earning coach-of-the-year honors en route to winning the 2023 Champions Cup.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to our organization," said Oilers General Manager David Imonti. "Ryan's experience as both a player and a coach make him a valuable addition to our team. We are confident that his knowledge and passion for the game will help us achieve our goals and continue to build a winning culture in Vernal."

Welcome to Vernal, Ryan!
